From the West to the Midwest to the Northeast, blizzard and winter warnings span the nation, as back-to-back storms will continue throughout the week. Plus, 30-hour I-95 closure ends, more weather news, and a 3-day outlook.
As stranded motorists endured nearly 30 hours in frigid conditions in a foot of snow on a 50-mile stretch of I-95 in Virginia, crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) have finally opened the roadway, NBC reported.
Fewer than 20 vehicles remained as of 5:15 PM on Tuesday, with VDOT announcing the interstate was reopened at roughly 8:40 PM.
Many vehicles had run out of gas, as drivers were left without a source of heat, water, food, and other supplies.
Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) tweeted he was finally freed after being stuck for 27 hours.
