Freezing Rain Over North-Central US, Wintry Mix from Midwest to the South

Snow, wintry mix and freezing rain for Northwest, north-central US

The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting snow, mixed precipitation and freezing rain over portions of the Northwest, West and north-central US on Thursday.

Snow: central Washington; Central and southern Oregon; Idaho; western Montana; western, central and northeastern Wyoming; western South Dakota; northwestern Nebraska.

Mixed precipitation: Western, central and eastern Washington; western and northern Oregon; northern Idaho; central and eastern Montana; western North Dakota; northern Wyoming; northwestern South Dakota.

Freezing rain: northeastern Montana; northwestern North Dakota.

A wintry mix from Midwest to the South

A wintry mix over the central US for portions of Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma will extend into the Southeast on Thursday. The affected states include portions of Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina Virginia and West Virginia.

Southern thunderstorms

While the northern areas of the South will see mixed precipitation today, southern latitudes are forecast to receive thunderstorms over parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and throughout Florida.
