The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for the southeast and parts of the mid-Atlantic, as the eastern US will see severe storms and the risk of flash flooding, while 6 states in the West are under fire warnings.

Severe weather and flash flooding threat in the East

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning over strong thunderstorms that could bring severe weather and potential flash flooding to portions of the eastern US on Wednesday.

Strong thunderstorms with the potential for severe weather are forecast over northeastern Kentucky; southern and eastern Ohio; the northern half of Virginia; West Virginia; southern, central, and eastern Pennsylvania; south-central, Central and southeastern New York; Delaware; Washington, D.C.; Maryland; New Jersey; Western Connecticut; Western Massachusetts; Southern Vermont.

Flash flooding threat for mid-South and mid-Atlantic

The NWS is warning that heavy rain could bring flash flooding to portions of the mid-South and mid-Atlantic on Wednesday including: eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, western Virginia, West Virginia, and southwestern Pennsylvania.

Heat advisories for southeast and mid-Atlantic

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued heat advisories for parts of the southeast and mid-Atlantic including: northwestern South Carolina; northeastern, eastern, central and western North Carolina; northern, eastern and western Virginia; southeastern and eastern West Virginia; southern and central Maryland; Washington, D.C.; New Jersey; Delaware; southeastern and central Pennsylvania.

6 Western states under red flag warnings

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued red flag warnings over critical fire weather conditions in 6 Western states. Affected areas include: northwestern Arizona; northern and southeastern California; all of Nevada; northern and southwestern Utah; southwestern and eastern Oregon; southwestern and southeastern Idaho.
