Major ice storm and snow stretches from central US to Northeast

A whopper of a storm bringing snow and ice will extend from north-central Texas across the Midwest into the Ohio Valley and throughout the Northeast to Maine on New Year’s Day.

A sign that a major storm is happening is that Texas was slammed with a year’s worth of snow overnight, falling much farther west and south than forecasters predicted, an indication that today’s storm could pack a punch.

The storm will affect portions of Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
