Potential Severe Thunderstorms in the South Snow in Northwest and East

A mostly dry day for much of the US; however, thunderstorms in the South will bring the potential for severe weather over Houston and the Texas Gulf, while snow is likely for the Northwest and isolated spots in the East.

Thunderstorms in the South and south-central US, severe over Texas

Portions of the south-central US and the South will see thunderstorms today affecting parts of southern Kansas, central and eastern Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Western Alabama and the eastern half of Texas.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning of potential severe thunderstorms around Houston and surrounding areas in all directions along the coast and inland.

Snow for the Northwest, spotty snowfall in the East

In the Northwest, snow is forecast over north-central Washington, portions of western and eastern Oregon, central and southern Idaho, western Montana and northwestern Wyoming.

In the East, a few isolated spots of snowfall are forecast over parts of Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York.

Mixed precipitation over Central US, freezing rain possible

A wintry mix is forecast over the central and upper Midwest for Wednesday including portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.

Freezing rain is possible over west-central and southwestern Minnesota into northeastern South Dakota.
