Winter storm warning: southern and south-central California and Los Angeles area; western Colorado; eastern Utah, northern and central New Mexico; southeastern Wyoming; western Nebraska; central Iowa.

Winter weather advisory: south-central and southeastern California; northern, northeastern and southern Nevada; northwestern Arizona; Utah; western Colorado; southeastern Wyoming; Nebraska; southern, northern and northeastern South Dakota; Kansas; Iowa; southern Minnesota; western and southwestern Wisconsin; northern Michigan; northwestern Missouri; western New York.

Here’s a look at the weather across the nation for Monday, December 28, 2020, as forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS).

Northwest & Northern Rockies: Mostly cloudy and dry where the snow falls over Wyoming and South Dakota.

West: Snow over the Sierras, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and parts of northern Arizona, as well as a rare winter storm warning for parts of Southern California around the Los Angeles area. Farther south, rain and thunderstorms will stretch from California into Texas. Portions of Western Colorado and eastern Utah could see heavy snow.

Southwest: Snow and mixed precipitation over central and northern Arizona and northern New Mexico; southern Arizona and eastern New Mexico will see rain stretching into Texas.

Central & Upper Midwest: Rain throughout most of Texas stretching northward into Oklahoma. Snow will extend from northern Texas into the Oklahoma Panhandle, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and over central Minnesota into northern Wisconsin and Michigan. Ice storms are forecast over western and northern Oklahoma stretching into south-central and west central Kansas.

Ohio Valley: Snow for northern Indiana and Ohio.

South: Rain for Western Louisiana and Arkansas. Rain will stretch from northern Alabama and Georgia into the eastern half of Tennessee. Mixed precipitation will stretch from northern Georgia into western South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. Rain his forecast for southern Florida around Miami.

East: Mixed precipitation and snow for the western areas of the Northeast, potential ice storms over Pennsylvania New York and Vermont.
