Snowstorm Stretches from Southwest to Northeast

Snow showers will stretch from Arizona to Vermont, as well as parts of the Northwest. Expect freezing rain over the nation’s midsection and Ohio Valley, while thunderstorms and spotty showers forecast in the South.

Snow spans from Southwest to Northeast

Snow will stretch nearly the entirety of the country on Tuesday. Here’s a brief look at today’s snow forecast.

Northwest: snowstorms will fall over portions of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

West: Snow over Wyoming, Utah, Colorado.

Southwest: Snow over much of Arizona and New Mexico.

Midwest: Snow over Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Heavy snow is forecast over central and western Iowa, and southern Wisconsin.

Ohio Valley: Snow over Northern Ohio. Heavy snow is forecast over northern Illinois.

Mid-Atlantic: Snow over northwestern Pennsylvania and southern New York.

Northeast: Snow over southern Vermont and western Massachusetts.

Winter storm warnings

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm warnings for the following areas for Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

Northwest: eastern Washington and northern Idaho.

West/Southwest: southeastern Wyoming; western Nebraska; western Colorado; eastern Utah; northern and central New Mexico.

Central US: southeastern South Dakota; southwestern Minnesota; eastern Nebraska; southwestern and northwestern Iowa; northeastern Kansas; northwestern Missouri; Iowa; northeastern Illinois; southern and southeastern Wisconsin; northwestern Indiana.

Freezing rain across nation’s midsection and Washington

There will be spots of freezing rain over parts of Washington state in the southern areas. However, a wide and long band of freezing rain will stretch from Texas into Michigan and Ohio.

Freezing rain will affect western Oklahoma, much of Kansas and Missouri, parts of Nebraska, southern Iowa, northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, northern Indiana, central and southern Michigan and northeast Ohio.

Today’s rain forecast

Thunderstorms are forecast over the south-central US, with spotty rain over the South, and rain in parts of the Southwest and Northwest.

Thunderstorms will be prevalent today over most of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and portions of southern Kansas and Missouri.

Spotty rain showers over parts of the South including Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida.

In the Southwest, rain showers for southern Arizona.

In the Northwest, rain showers along the Western regions of Washington and Oregon.
