Snowstorms Across US, Plus Ice for the South, Severe Weather Along Gulf

Across the nation today, snowstorms continue from west to east, as another ice storm will stretch from Texas to the mid-Atlantic, while in the South, thunderstorms and a threat of severe weather are coming for the Gulf Coast.

Snowstorms will span the nation

A diagonal band of storms is forecast to bring heavy snow that will span from Texas and Oklahoma, through Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, northward into Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia and as far as Maryland.

A large region encompassing parts of the South, Southeast and mid-Atlantic are under a winter storm warning by the National Weather Service (NWS).

Here are the regions around the country that are forecast to receive snowfall on Wednesday:

West: Snow is forecast for portions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas.

Midwest and central US: Snow is forecast for parts of eastern Texas, spanning into Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Ohio Valley: Snow is forecast over parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.

East: Snowfall is forecast over parts of Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and north-central New York.

Ice storm stretches from Texas to Virginia

Another round of ice storms is forecast to wallop the South on Wednesday. A wide band of freezing rain is expected to stretch from portions of the South into the mid-Atlantic on Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service forecast, the affected areas include portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and potentially into parts of Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Southern thunderstorms could produce severe weather around the Gulf Coast

Thunderstorms are forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS) across the South and Southeast for Wednesday. Severe weather has been forecast along the Gulf Coast, stretching from Mississippi to the Florida Panhandle. A wind advisory has been issued by the NWS for southeast Texas, southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi.
