Wind Warnings for the Northern Tier, Heavy Rain and Flooding in Northwest


Heavy rain with potential flooding in the Northwest and snow and a wintry mix, while strong winds over the northern tier from Washington to the Dakotas, while scattered snow showers and a wintry mix to the East.

Flooding rain in parts of the Northwest, West

The latest forecast by the National Weather Service (NWS) is calling for rain showers in the West from northern California into western Washington. 

Potential flooding for the northwestern and western region of Washington, where heavy rain has prompted the NWS to issue a number of flood warnings, watches and advisories for the region on Monday.

Mixed precipitation is forecast over the northern tier of the West and parts of northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, western and central Montana, northern and eastern Nevada, northern Utah, and western Wyoming.

Heavy snow is forecast on Monday for Northwest and north-central Washington and snow over southwestern Montana and western Wyoming. Another round of snowstorms on Tuesday will affect portions of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and northern North Dakota.

Heavy wind over the northern tier, West, Midwest

The National Weather Service has issued a number of wind-related alerts for parts of the northern tier stretching from the Northwest to the upper Midwest and throughout southern regions of the West.

High wind warning: western Washington, northern Idaho, Montana, Wyoming.

High wind watch: western and central North Dakota, western South Dakota, southern and eastern Wyoming.

Wind advisory: Central and western Washington, northern and southeastern Oregon, northern and southeastern Idaho.

Red flag warning: southeastern Wyoming, western Nebraska.

Snow and wintry mix for Upper Midwest, Ohio Valley

The upper Midwest and parts of the Ohio Valley will see a wintry mix on Monday over portions of eastern North Dakota, Northwestern and central Minnesota, into northern Michigan, northern Illinois, northern and central Indiana, western, south-central, and northeastern Ohio.

Snow is forecast over northeastern Minnesota and northern Michigan. Another round of snow moves in over Minnesota and Wisconsin on Wednesday.

A wintry mix for mid-Atlantic and Northeast

Much of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast will see a wintry mix on Monday, including portions of West Virginia, most of Pennsylvania and New York, western Massachusetts, Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and most of Maine.

Rain is forecast over northeastern New Jersey and Long Island, as well as southeastern Maine. Some showers are possible over the southern coastal areas of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
